Audio Cassette and CD/DVD Duplicator Directory

While this listing is not intended to be a complete record of all tape and CD duplicators available, it is a starting point from which churches can explore their options.

CD and DVD Duplicators

DN-C550R Combination CD player/CD-R/CDRW Recorder ($899) Denon Electronics offers the DN-C550R dual drive combination CD player/CD-R/CD-RW recorder, providing pro-quality CD recording and a second drive for professional dubbing and playback of CDs. The unit includes balanced XLR inputs with full 24- bit A/D conversion for highly accurate recordings from analog sources with increased dynamic range, and coaxial D/PDIF inputs. Using the internal digital sampling frequency concert, the unit will convert 32kHz and 48kHz rates to the CD standard 44.1kHz. The DNC550-R permit dubbing in either realtime or 2X speeds.

Director NW-2000-8-NT CD Publishing System ($2999) The Director NW-2000-8-NT “Disc-on-Demand” CD publishing system from MediaFORM has eight SmartDRIVE 24X CD-R drives and thermal print capabilities. The system can duplicate 91 CDs per hour from a 650 MB master.

CopyWriter Live CD Duplicator/Recorder ($699) Microboards Technology’s CopyWriter Live duplicator/recorder features disc-to-disc recording capability combined with RCA and XLR inputs for live video and audio feed. The CopyWriter Live offers continuous writing from disc to disc, from virtually any source. When one disc reaches capacity the second recorder begins immediately. Tailored to the needs of the church market, the unit is configurable as a desktop or rack mount device, with remote access capability.

Xpress CD/DVD-R Publishing System (Starting at $17,000) Microtech Systems calls the new Xpress 600-disc capacity automated disc publishing system “the most advanced CD/DVDR publishing system to date.” With a choice or four Plextor PlexWriter 40X CD recorders or four Pioneer 2X Ao4 DVD recorders, an inkjet or highspeed thermal disc printer, and Microtech’s ImageMaker Software Suite, the unit also offers various modular configuration options for maximum customization.

CDF-2000 CD Duplicator and Printer (Price: $1229) Orient Instrument Computer’s CDF-2000 auto loading duplicator and printer features two 16X CD-R recorders and Prassi Primo CD software. Operating in the Windows 95/98/ME and Windows 2000 environs, it offers 100 disc input and output. The system can be outfitted with a choice of optional printers: the Signature IV CD Color Printer, SignaturePro CD Color Printer or Inscripta Thermal CD Printer by Primera Technology.

DVD-R Duplication System (From $13,495) The Otari DVD-R Duplication System, comprised of the DVM-100 DVD-R mastering unit and the VDP-100 DVD duplicator unit, is designed for small-scale, multi-item production. The VDP-100 copies up to five DVD-R discs per hour, simultaneously. The system’s disc handling system can stack up to 90 blanks, allowing for long, unattended duplication of DVDs. The DVM mastering unit can create DVD image files directly from master program mate.

CD-D1x4 Professional CD Duplicator (Price: $1,999) TASCAM’s CD-D1x4 Professional CD Duplicator replicates multiple CD copies of original audio material or data at duplication speeds of up to 16X. Housed in a 4U 19-inch rack mount enclosure, the system includes a CD-Rom master drive and four CD-RW drives. Two duplicators can be linked together, allowing a total of eight CDs to be copied in a single pass.

SpinWise DVD Tower (Price: Starting at $649) The SpinWise DVD Towers from Telex Communications come in a variety of configurations to fulfill a variety of duplication needs. Each unit is a standalone tower with up to 40 GB hard drive space, and the capability to duplicate between two and seven copies simultaneously. The SpinWise tower offers 2X speed for DVD copies and 8X speed for duplicating CD-Rs. Each unit is backwards compatible, allowing users to copy CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, CD-ROMs and CDR-Ws.

CopyDisc4S PRO integrated CD/duplicator and ink-jet printer ($8744) The CopyDisc4S PRO, an integrated CD/duplicator and ink-jet printer from Verity Systems uses automatic operation to produce “on-demand” CDRs and DVD-Rs. With a capacity of up to 220 blank discs and up to four high-speed 40X drives, 37 CD-Rs can be duplicated and mono-printed within an hour. A 20 Gb internal hard drive provides storage for data and graphics. The ImagerPRO ink-jet printer offers up to 2400 dpi resolution for printing full-color, photo-quality CD labels.

Tape Duplicators

XGEN Audio Cassette Duplicator (starting at $1945) The XGEN master module features a master position and three copy positions. Add a total of sixteen copy modules to expand your system to 67 copy positions. Available in 8x or 16x normal playback speed and select a head option of standard, XL or Ferrite heads. All models feature microprocessor controls with direct drive motors, Ferrite erase heads, a C-60 rewind speed of 30 seconds, track select, modular cassette pockets, end of tape sensing, auto or manual operation, cleaning cycle, audible tone end of copy and Chrome tape copying (on select models).

CCP2300 Stereo Master Copy Unit ($2750) Sony's CCP2300 Stereo 1-to-3 16x Master Copy Unit tape duplicator features two track, two channel hexalloy play/record heads to make three copies of master tape at 16 times normal speed. A side-select switch lets the user choose one side or record on both sides simultaneously. One touch auto-copy feature automatically performs rewind-copy-rewind-stop cycle. Erase heads in all copy positions eliminate the need for blank tapes.
