Lighting for the Creative Church: A Roundup of New Theatrical Lighting Fixtures

We survey the market place and provide a short list of innovative products for churches small and large.

As production creativity expands, so does the range of lighting tools available for churches. Sophisticated lighting tools are becoming more affordable, as their quality-value for the dollar- continues to increase. Greg Persinger, long-time product reviewer and writer for Church Production Magazine, spent part of this past fall at- tending industry trade events, like LDI and WFX, to see the latest and most appropriate lighting fixtures for the church market. What follows is an overview of products from a wide range of foreign and domestic lighting equipment manufacturers.

STATIC FIXTURES

Altman Spectra Strip

The Spectra Strip is a six-foot LED Wash fixture featuring 12 RGBA led color Mixing cells in the color mixing version or 12 cells of warm white led light source in the white-only version. Each cell can be individually controlled via DMX as well as fitted with different filters, lenses, and diffusion using the filter slots provided. The unit can be both floor- and pipe-mounted and is designed to be an LED replacement for traditional theatrical strip lights, foot lights, and border lights.
