Manufacturer Roundtable: Loudspeaker Arrays for Smaller Worship Spaces
We assembled more than dozen manufacturers to address the topic of line arrays for contemporary music in worship spaces seating less than 800. The participants represent a broad cross-section of product design, including everything from conventional line arrays to the latest high-technology solutions. What the systems have in common is sensitivity to the needs of smaller worship spaces, with more modest sizes compared to the touring systems often specified for larger spaces. All are designed to be paired with a subwoofer system for full-range contemporary productions. We strongly urge all churches to work with a qualified systems integration firm in selecting the system that best meets the needs of your sanctuary.

Adamson Systems Engineering - Metrix Ultra Compact Line Array Series
Ilona Utrainen, Marketing
The Metrix Series includes Adamson Neodymium Kevlar drivers, producing a cardioid pattern capability on Metrix subs. Adamson’s patented high-frequency waveguide results in clear, clean high end, with full and warm midrange. Adamson uses 11-ply Baltic Birch on all cabinets rather than molded plastic or some other, less resonant material.
What makes it different?
The Metrix Series offers an ultra compact loudspeaker that doesn’t sacrifice SPL or intelligibility. Ideal for speech and vocals it offers good off axis rejection and wide dispersion for non-symmetrical spaces. The Adamson Shooter is a very user-friendly operating system offering incredibly accurate room modeling, with uncomplicated functions and quick predictive simulations.
d&b Audiotechnik - T10 line array
Christopher C. Kulesa, Application Support
The T10 features two 6.5-inch drivers in a dipolar arrangement for dispersion control, combined with a 1.4-inch compression driver with a unique waveguide horn in a passive two-way design. Mechanical rotation of the horn (no tools required) converts the T10 into a stand-alone loudspeaker, and the cabinet boasts both analog and digital inputs. Designed to be paired with the T SUB subwoofer.
What makes it different?
A T-Series-based system can be easily reconfigured from linearray deployment into point source deployment with the same box. No need to have redundant equipment when one box will service two of the most popular configurations of sound systems, line array and point-source.
dB Technologies (RCF USA) - DVA-T4 line array
Hans W. Radda, President
The dB Technologies DVA-T4 line array, distributed by RCF USA, is an active tri-amped design with one eight-inch woofer, one 6.5-inch mid and two one-inch high-frequency drivers. A carbon fiber/propylene cabinet and integrated flyware keep the weight to just 30.5 pounds. The companion S10 sub can be flown, while the larger S20 is for ground deployment.
