And Now for Something Completely Different
Let the pastor or the live presentation handle the serious stuff while the video department goes crazing with gags and effects to lighten the mood.

Video can be a powerful tool for sharing the Gospel. Or it can provide comic relief. What's everybody is in the mood for? This year, our Singing Christmas Tree production was in the mood for some comic relief, so I created a spoof of behind-the-scenes featurettes. You can view the whole thing HERE.
I hope this will inspire you to just go for laughs once in a while. After all, a pastor may open a message with an amusing anecdote, or a Christmas presentation may include some secular carols before getting to the heart of the message. It can be a lot of fun to provide the light side of a program with a video since it opens a great many creative possibilities.
In contrast to a live skit, you have the freedom to stage the action anywhere, or use visual effects to move the action beyond available locations. And blowing up the sanctuary sound booth has never been easier thanks to stock effects providers like Digital Hotcakes and Trinity3D.com. In my last blog entry, I talk about the use of green-screen. If still images can be used, Photoshop is a great way to move your actors into impossible locations. Or to move impossible actors to your location, as we got Miley Cyrus to appear in our video when she turned down what I thought was a perfectly reasonable request. I guess she found out the tickets to our show are free anyway.
We have plans for more serious video productions, but since the cheese factor won't work with them, this silly little exploration into digital magic has been a good learning project. You might also find it best to learn the techniques making a just-for-fun video before taking on the serious subjects.
