St. Simon’s Island Community Church Completes New Sanctuary

Nearly hidden amid a grove of spreading oaks draped with Spanish moss, the new St. Simon’s Island Community Church on the Georgia coast seems to reflect the languid air of the Old South. Inside the church’s 975-seat sanctuary, however, the sturdy old hymns receive decidedly updated arrangements, and are complemented by energetic contemporary praise music. This “joyful noise” certainly benefits from 21st-century technology, including impeccable performance from a highly compact audio system featuring Meyer Sound M1D line array loudspeakers.

Christ The King Covenant Church Brings in New Sound System

Just west of downtown Fort Worth is Weatherford, Texas, home to the Christ The King Covenant Church.  The congregation has thrived for twenty years, occupying several buildings over that time.  In March of 2008, they completed construction of their new, permanent home on Tin Top Road. The church has an average attendance of about 250 people every Sunday, but it is designed to be large enough for twice that number.

When the church installed their old audio equipment in the new building, it did not perform to their expectations.  This larger space required more robust sound reinforcement to handle the spoken word as well as live music from a fully staffed praise band, plus guest artists. Meyer Sound Releases Compass 2.1

Meyer Sound’s Compass control software for the Galileo loudspeaker management system has been upgraded to provide easy access to all Galileo features and to streamline system configuration and control of multiple Galileo 616 units.

Compass 2.1 introduces a new tabbed interface, which enables users to monitor the status of multiple Galileo 616 units in a single window. The interface can be scaled to fit any resolution display and the colors can be configured for night or day use. The interface and controls are the same for Windows PC and Macintosh OS X, so switching between platforms is completely transparent.

Marantz Professional PMD580 Solid State Recorder Selected by Philadelphia’s Famed Episcopal Academy

The Episcopal Academy was founded in Philadelphia in 1785 to educate the city’s youth in both the fine arts and practical studies. Its new location in suburban Newtown Square, includes Marantz Professional PMD580 Solid State Digital Recorders. Audio Video Systems Group (AVSG), the commercial systems design and integration division of HiFi House Group of Broomall, Pennsylvania, installed the Marantz PMD580s this summer, in time for the 2008-09 school year.
