MARCH 2007 |
|

TFCinfo, in conjunction with Church Production Magazine, recently released findings from their research on the use of projectors in North American churches. In this research, TFCinfo conducted extensive market size, market segmentation, spending, and forecast analysis, as well as, a sophisticated end user survey.
For over four years, TFCinfo has immersed themselves into the church market to assist manufacturers, dealers and integrators in better understanding this fast growing market segment. TFCinfo's latest report entitled "TFCinfo: The Use of Projectors in North American Churches 2007" addresses this significant market, and with more than 365,000 churches in North America, it is clear to see that the potential for installed A/V systems is huge.
"There is currently little existing information on church market segmentation, and the work in this report may be the first detailed church segmentation analysis," states Tanya Lippke, Manager of Survey Market Research for TFCinfo. "What is also exciting is that for the first time, we have been able to include the portable churches in our market estimates. Portable churches are churches that do not have a permanent church facility, but instead rent or use other facilities. These churches are users of A/V gear, but because they have no permanent facility, the numbers and attendance of portable churches are mostly unrecorded, until now."
The survey portion of this research is based on 900 respondents, all of whom were responsible for the A/V equipment at their place of worship. In this report, TFCinfo not only analyzes the church market as a whole, but goes beyond to break the sample into various demographic groups. Research results are provided in total, by church size (# of seats), and geographic location (Northeast, South, West, and Midwest). This allows companies to compare and contrast the preferences and purchasing of churches of varying sizes and in varying locations across the US. As TFCinfo reports that $514 million was spent on projection equipment alone in 2006, this will be an important market segment for those in the industry.
In addition to TFCinfo reports, Pacific Media Associates (PMA), a global market information resource on large-screen displays, reports that unit sales for consumer flat panel televisions in North America were up 101 percent for the fourth quarter of 2006 over the same quarter in 2005. Their Flat Panel Display Tracking Service also shows that unit sales in December were almost steady from November's record levels, dipping just two percent. "In December, we saw the average street price for consumer models rise slightly over November's average even though prices for many individual models continued to decline," according to Rosemary Abowd, PMA vice-president. "The reason for the increase in average street price was due to buyers moving to premium-priced models, higher resolutions, and bigger screen sizes. As a result, revenues for December actually grew by two percent over November, resulting in the highest revenues for the year."
The TFCinfo report gives manufacturers, dealers, and integrators the knowledge needed to effectively and successfully target this large market segment for projectors. Not only is this research useful for those companies currently targeting the House of Worship (HOW) market, but also for those that might consider entering this unique and profitable market in the future. This report describes the following areas in detail:
- HOW Market Size
- HOW Segmentation
- HOW Unique Needs
- Brand Preferences
- Ways to Build Effective Communication and Advertising Strategies for the HOW Market
- Ways to Sell and to Whom
- Best Practices/Learn from the Mistakes from Others

Peavey Electronics, the globally successful musical-instrument and sound-equipment company Hartley Peavey founded in Meridian, figures heavily in the campaign's second phase. "There are thousands of business success stories in Mississippi," said COO of the Cirlot Agency, Rick Looser, the creative team behind the pro-bono campaign. "But like most states, there are only a few where just the mention of the brand transcends states, countries and continents. Peavey is one of those rare brands and a role model for what can be accomplished here."
"Mississippi, Believe It!" debuted in 2005 with ads celebrating writers William Faulkner, Eudora Welty and John Grisham and sports legends Walter Peyton and Brett Favre not to mention scores of blues musicians and garnered attention from media such as The New York Times and U.S. News & World Report.
Featuring the bold headline "A Mississippi Stereo Type," the second phase kicks off with a poster and print advertisement that commends Hartley's ongoing quest and the commitment of thousands of Peavey employees through the years to build the world's finest musical and audio equipment. Looser said that with its worldwide recognition, continued innovation and longevity, Peavey is an image-builder outside the state's boundaries as well as within.

The most important element is rigging safety training. "Since merging Allen Products Company and ATM Fly-Ware in 2005, we have received a constant stream of requests asking us to renew our rigging seminars", commented Paul Allen, president of the combined companies, "but we wanted to make sure we gave installers the most value in the shortest possible time."
"Partnering with Harry Donovan was the best way to get these installers the maximum amount of training in the least amount of time so they could get back to work faster", continued Allen. "Harry is the real deal, with 40 years of live sound and fixed install experience. He is the author of the highly respected manual Entertainment Rigging, and is the foremost arena-style rigging instructor in America. "The idea of developing a class with ATM Fly-Ware specifically geared toward permanent installations is intriguing, because the fixed install professionals really need one place to secure the information geared to their trade", stated Harry Donovan. Allen related that, "The audio and video installers we serve have a tremendous desire to improve their knowledge of rigging safety, installations, and to be more competitive. This course lets them learn, in one place, what they would otherwise have to gather from a dozen different sources."
Because ATM Fly-Ware is an NSCA Partner Provider, students holding the EST certification can earn eight Learning Units toward the renewal of their EST certificate. Students can also earn twelve Learning Units towards the newly created NSCA Certificate of Completion Program in the College of Technical Knowledge.
