The U.S. Patent Office has issued a patent to J. R. Clancy for its SureGrip rope, designed to help determine wear to rigging system lines. The product is purportedly the only theatrical rope with a wear indicator that tells users when the rope should be replaced. Excessive wear is indicated by a red thread woven into the rope—when red threads are visible, it’s time to replace the line. OConnor announces an upgrade to its Ultimate 2575 Fluid Head, the new “D” model. Improvements include ergonomic changes to controls and more pan bar mounting points. The 2575D’s one-touch platform release lever allows for one finger or hand action to undo the safety catch and open the lever. The fluid head’s platform now features dual platform scales, one on each side, and four handle rosettes to allow operation from either side, as well as front or back handle mounting.
