Architecture MasterPrize (AMP), with U.S. offices in Los Angeles, has announced its 2022 winning projects, which will be recognized at an event at Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain, on November 24, 2022.
AMP honors designs in the disciplines of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture with the goal of advancing the appreciation of architecture worldwide.
Each 2022 project submitted was evaluated by an AMP jury of peers responsible for selecting the best overall architectural design in categories that include commercial, conceptual, cultural, educational, institutional, green, healthcare, and others.
According to Architecture Masterprize, the chapel at the Bade Campus of CES in Taoyuan, Taiwan, an evangelical seminary, functions as the spiritual and circulatory heart of the educational institution's campus. The architectural design features steel columns extruded to the roofs and reinforced with buttresses to form a long-span diagrid slab system mimicking the ribbed vaults in gothic architecture, the jury of peers noted.
Natural light diffuses through the glass clerestory and brightens the space throughout the day. As the morning light penetrates the stone façade, the chapel is filled with a spiritual aura, the jury found, while a bright cross is projected deep into the space, evoking John 8:12, “I am the light of the world."

Articulated wooden panels are mounted in between the columns to integrate the acoustics and the air-conditioning system in its interior, according to re-thinkingthefuture.com.
