On behalf of the City and County of Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock expresses “sincere and heartfelt gratitude” to Rhino Colorado for “selfless service to others and your continuing contributions to the well-being of our most vulnerable residents during this unprecedented and trying time.” Mayor Hancock, in his letter dated October 26, 2020, hails Rhino Colorado’s so-far 30 food distribution events as a “monumental act of compassion and caring.”
Rhino Colorado, a Denver-based provider of live event technicians and equipment, has been putting on the events every week since April in conjunction with partners Conscious Alliance, Musically Fed, and Metro Ministries. The drive-through events are held at the company’s office and warehouse facility in Denver and provide food aid to food-insecure live event production workers, including many of their own employees. According to the Save Live Events Now campaign, 77% of live event workers have lost 100% of their income due to the pandemic.
Jeff Giek, founder and CEO of Rhino Staging & Events Solutions, Rhino Colorado’s parent company, says about the Mayor’s letter, “This is special. Having grown up in Denver and still having many family and friends there I feel a strong connection to the city. To have Mayor Hancock take note of what Rhino Colorado is doing during this incredibly difficult time for everyone is just amazing. It really touches me and on behalf of all of our employees there, of whom I could not be prouder, I thank him for the recognition.”
