Fall Creek Church in Indianapolis, Ind., recently integrated six Hear Technologies Hear Back Pro in-ear monitoring systems into its lineup. Clayton Knight, associate pastor of worship and media, explains that this has solved a number of issues––namely, members of the worship team can hear themselves, and each other.
“We used to have problems with feedback when we had floor wedge monitors,” Knight says. “Now we don’t have that issue because the Hear Back Pro system enables our stage to be totally silent. And it allows our worship team to dial in their own personal mixes, so we rarely have issues with people saying, ‘I can’t hear my guitar,’ or ‘I can’t hear my voice.’ It makes it more streamlined.” Additionally, he notes that the system is pretty much self-explanatory for new users. “We’ve had new people join our worship band with no prior experience of ever playing or singing with in-ear monitors, and they just jump right in and it makes sense.”

The Hear Back Pro systems have also come in handy ever since Fall Creek replaced its electronic drum kit with an acoustic set-up, Knight points out. “With the building that we’re in, it’s required that we have a drum enclosure or else it would be painful for the people in the front row,” he says. “Without the Hear Back system, it’s unlikely that we could have made that switch because our drummer wouldn’t have been able to hear the rest of the band.”
