After founding and running HR Ministry Solutions for eight years, Tiffany Henning stepped down earlier this year to launch a new non-profit organization called Somethings Gotta Change to focus on HR Care.
“Over my two decades of ministry experience, I have come to realize that almost everyone has a story regarding their own experience with burnout, staff hurt, and weariness from working in the church. It is the dark underbelly of ministry very few talk about, yet many are leaving the ministry over,” Henning says.
Somethings Gotta Change’s mission is to help ministers find healing and restoration, whether through prevention or recovery. To do this, Henning and her team have created a website - a centralized hub - with links to resources specifically designed for ministry workers seeking help and healing.
The organization’s website states that “Ministry leaders often bear the weight of others’ burdens while grappling with their own. Burnout, hurt, and mental wellness challenges can cast long shadows over their noble calling, creating barriers to effective service and personal well-being.”
“The prevalence of staff hurt in today’s church is the dark underbelly of ministry no one is talking about,” says Matt Davis of Pastoral Transitions, an organization that assists churches with leadership changes.
Somethings Gotta Change’s free resources include:
•Retreat locations across the US
•Professional counseling options
•Pastoral coaching organizations
•Peer cohorts/communities
•…and more
Youth Director Sarah Johnson says, “Ministry is a tough and often lonely road. SGC not only provided practical resources but also a sense of community and care that I deeply appreciate.”
Henning concludes, "Because we are not trying to re-invent the wheel; we are showing you that you do not need to walk it alone."
