Sound Productions, an industry-leading audio, video, and lighting retailer, is making moves to expand into new markets and widen its national footprint. SoundPro announces plans to open an office in the Madison, Wisc., area and is hiring a new Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Marketing and E-Commerce, both based in Wisconsin. This will be the first office outside of its Irving, Tex., location.
“I believe there is a better way, and we are going to build it,” says SoundPro CEO, Joshua Curlett. “My goal is to create an organization of talented people that honor the culture and vibe of our industry.” Curlett continues excitedly, “I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again, the most important thing about us is our people. We, as leaders, serve our team so that they can serve our customers. This is the most servant hearted industry I have ever been a part of.”
SoundPro has been laying the foundation for growth and scalability for the past several years, with investments in new technologies, key hires, restructured teams, and improved processes. The company is now ready to expand customer reach, provide an online version of the branded “SoundPro experience,” and improve the market position. Since the S. Dakota Vs. Wayfair ruling eliminated the tax benefit of having only one physical location, SoundPro began searching for acquisitions in other regions of the country. Curlett says opening locations in other major metropolitan regions will allow SoundPro to establish local relationships, while strengthening the company’s position as a national brand.
When asked why SoundPro chose Wisconsin as the first location for their new office, Curlett
explains, “We were focused on metroplexes with highly regarded technical music programs, comparable to DFW’s UNT, because the talent pool will be high. However, we also had the extraordinary opportunity to hire two key leadership roles for SoundPro, separately and independently. Both are industry veterans with the expertise we need to keep innovating and execute our vision for the future. It just so happens that both individuals reside in the Madison area.” Curlett pauses, “It was perfect timing to have a team serve locally in a new regional market, while strengthening our national value to our customers.
Kyle Kjensrud, was hired on as Vice President of Marketing and E-Commerce. Kyle has an extensive background in product management, merchandising, and e-commerce, stretching over a 20-year career at Full Compass, which makes him an incredible asset for SoundPro’s leadership team. He will be tasked with building that department from the ground up and driving profitable growth through that sector of the business.
Ryan Mauer, who also worked at Full Compass as Director of Sales for part of his professional career, is Vice President of Sales at Sound Productions. He will be responsible for leading the Dallas tele-sales team and the already growing Madison team, while identifying and expanding SoundPro’s reach into new markets. “Ryan’s logistics and data-driven approach, coupled with his vast experience in sales, marketing, and operations make him a valuable addition to the team,” the announcement states.
Mauer, VP of Sales and Wisconsin native says, “I’m excited to be part of building upon the vibrant history of SoundPro. Our expansion into new markets – starting with Wisconsin – signals the beginning of the next chapter in our story.” Mauer affirms, “As we continue to focus first and foremost on our customers and our team members, we have an incredible opportunity to drive future success.”
SoundPro’s services include educational offerings, wholesale pricing, ample on-hand inventory, same-day shipping, and a skilled and tenured sales team that is trained to get the customer the best product solution for their application. Curlett says the “SoundPro Experience,” now has a much longer arm and wider reach. “Bringing on the Madison team is just step one in our continual expansion in North America.”
