1. Follow basic safety precautions
These measures may include cast and crew observing social distancing and staying six feet apart, regular use of hand sanitizer, and wearing masks at all times (with a brief intermission for the person on-camera).
2. Keep cast and crew sizes smaller
Volunteer team development may have to take a back seat to crew and cast safety at this time. Another consideration is limiting the number of people who actually handle the gear.
3. Film in larger spaces
Outdoor film locations are best, when possible. And indoors, gymnasiums, worship spaces, and large studios are good options. Another consideration: scenes that call for singing or shouting where actors are in close proximity will take more advance planning and preparation (consider if lip sync’ing is an option).
4. Model best practices onscreen
Unless cast members are in the same family, avoid people standing too close together onscreen. Portraying poorer safety practices may alienate some viewers from your content. One thought: this may be a good time to film life-change stories with individuals or families.
