Building on the success of Avante Audio’s original Imperio Pro ‘mini’ line array system, the new and improved Imperio Pro Series is designed for increased output, enhanced audio quality, and new features from the same versatile and compact cabinet design. “Intended for easy transportation and very fast setup, the Imperio Pro IMP205 is a lightweight, high output active line array element that can be utilized in a variety of different configurations – both ground-stacked and flown – to cover a wide range of applications and audience sizes,” according to the announcement.
“Combining high quality neodymium components with Class-D digital amplifier modules and advanced internal signal processing, the Imperio Pro IMP205 delivers unrivalled audio fidelity and deployment flexibility for a speaker of its size,” the announcement states.
Imperio Pro IMP205 array element measures 12.8" x 7.3" x 8.8" (324mm x 184.8mm x 224mm) – the same as the original Imperio – but includes a pair of 5” neodymium low-mid transducers alongside six 1.75” IDVAT (Inverted Dome Vertical Array Technology) high frequency drivers. This configuration allows the unit to deliver a frequency response of 100Hz – 20KHz with a horizontal dispersion angle of 100⁰.
The unit’s internal Class D 2-way amplifier has a PFC switching power supply and is rated at 440W RMS (1700W peak) – increased from 240W RMS on the original model – which allows it to deliver a maximum output of 128dB (single box measured on Axis @ 1m). A 32-bit DSP with advanced FIR digital filter technology is also included in the compact cabinet, which has been calibrated to offer eight selectable configuration settings. There is also an Input Sensitivity Dial as well as LED indicators for Power and Signal/Clip. Both XLR audio and locking power input and output sockets are provided, allowing for connection between multiple units within an array setup.
An ABS plastic construction, finished with a heavy-duty powder-coated steel grille, the Imperio Pro IMP205 distinctive design is built for a life on the road, with a lightweight cabinet. At 12.5 lbs. (6.3 kg.), it weighs less than the original Imperio model.
Integrated rigging hardware allows the joining together of multiple Imperio Pro IMP205 array elements. They can be joined with a choice of seven different splay angles (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12-degrees) and, using accessories sold separately, can be pole-mounted, ground-stacked or flown. Properly flown arrays, combined with an appropriate configuration of subs, will provide coverage for both indoor and outdoor concerts with an audience of up to 3000 people. IMP205 arrays can also be setup as delays to supplement larger PA systems. Each of the eight DSP presets correspond to a different potential configuration to configure and deploy the same array modules in different ways for different events.
“As an audio professional, I used the original Avante Audio Imperio system for many events of various sizes before I worked for the company, so I know first-hand what a great sounding and easy to work with system it is,” comments Avante Audio’s Product Engineer Tony Mirador. “When I joined Avante Audio my first task was to take the already great Imperio and make it even better. Extensive R&D work led to make small changes to various aspects of the product which collectively delivered a large overall improvement to the output, audio clarity and versatility of the Imperio Pro IMP205. When we previewed the new system at the NAMM tradeshow last summer, I lost count of the number of audio pros who did a double take as they walked past the outdoor Arena Plaza Stage and then came over to find out more. The output and audio quality from such tiny cabinets really does have to be heard to be believed!”
The Avante Audio Imperio Pro IMP205 is available in the Americas now and will be available in Europe from late January 2023.
