Yamaha announces the new DM5 Series digital mixing consoles, expanding its family of professional mixing solutions with two compact models for live sound, houses of worship, corporate AV, theater, and broadcast applications. Yamaha is also introducing three new RUio Series utility I/O devices, designed to extend the flexibility and connectivity of Yamaha audio systems.
The DM5 Series delivers professional mixing capabilities, scalability, and connectivity in a compact format designed to meet evolving production needs. In addition, DM7 Series V2.0 firmware expands integration across the entire DM Series of products while introducing workflow enhancements that make setup and operation faster, more flexible, and more intuitive.
"With the DM5 Series, we're bringing the proven workflow of the DM7 platform to a broader range of users," says Preston Gray, Director of Marketing, Professional Audio. "DM5 gives engineers the flexibility to build the right system for each project while maintaining a consistent Yamaha user experience."
The DM5 Series is available in two models: the DM5, a dual-bay 60-channel console with 26 faders, and the DM5 Compact, a single-bay 48-channel console with 13 faders. Both consoles support Dante networking at 96kHz and offer extensive processing, flexible routing, USB audio, remote control, and Bluetooth playback.
A key innovation of the DM5 Series is the new glass key technology, which combines tactile controls with dynamic labeling that changes based on workflow and system status. Additional features include customizable controls, Dynamic Mode operation, adjustable display viewing angles, and Yamaha Assist functions that simplify setup and operation.
Both models feature a PY Series card slot for expanded processing and connectivity, including the new PY-DSP card, Dante, MADI, AES/EBU, MIDI, GPIO, and Waves SoundGrid integration options. Optional software packages add functionality for broadcast, theater, and conferencing applications.
The DM5 Series is compatible with Yamaha DM7, DM3, RIVAGE PM, and R Series I/O products, enabling integration into existing Yamaha systems. Support from the growing Yamaha software ecosystem, including DM Editor, StageMix, MonitorMix, and ProVisionaire Control Plus, provides tools for configuration, control, and system management.
Yamaha is also releasing the latest V2.0 firmware and related software updates for its DM7 series digital mixing consoles, for a scalable and consistent mixing ecosystem.
DM7 series V2.0 firmware supports Yamaha’s new DM5 and DM5 Compact digital mixing consoles, along with the new RUio1608SB-D, RUio0804-D and RUio16FLX-D utility I/O units, and the existing Yamaha DME5, DME3 and NEXO DME10 signal processors. Together the enhanced setup and operational workflows are designed for DM Series users to find even faster, more flexible and more intuitive operation.
“Built on the Yamaha philosophy that great sound begins with transparency, the DM5 Series combines powerful processing, flexible customization, and intuitive operation to help engineers realize their creative vision today and into the future,” the announcement concludes.
