Zaxcom announces the all new ZMT5-HH handheld transmitter is now shipping. The device features interchangeable mic capsules, encrypted audio, internal recording, remote control functionality, time code, and the capability to run wirelessly or wired at the same time.
An ergonomic design protects the XLR, locks out accidental button presses, hides the antenna inside and features a quick-swap battery designed to last up to 10 hours.
The handheld microphone can operate as both a wireless transmitter and a hardwired microphone simultaneously. Hardwired balanced mic level analog audio offers an alternative to wireless transmission or can be used simultaneously as a backup or sent to another device. ZMT5-HH is compatible with any Shure* 1.25″ opening and 28 thread pitch compatible mic capsule. Mic capsules are sold separately.
Wireless audio is transmitted using 100% digital modulation, resulting in fully encrypted audio. Audio can be recorded internally to a microSD card using the lossless MARF (Mobile Audio Recording Format), which eliminates file corruption common to recordings due to a dead battery or early card removal.
Advanced features include ZaxNet, where frequency, output power, and record mode can be remotely controlled. Wireless audio transmission also features NeverClip, which extends the dynamic range of the microphone to 128dB, eliminating the need for a compressor that distorts the natural sound quality at high-volume audio levels.
The handheld transmitter is powered by a single 18650 Li-ion battery designed to last up to 10 hours.
ZMT5-HH is available in the 470-698 MHz frequency range and is priced at $2,195.
