Church production teams are carrying more weight than they were just a few years ago.
Not necessarily because churches suddenly care more about technology. Most healthy churches have cared about communication, worship environments, and technical excellence for a long time. What’s changing is the sheer number of things now flowing through the production department at the same time.
That pressure showed up clearly in Church Production Magazine’s recent “Then vs. Now” research project, which examined how church production priorities, operational challenges, staffing realities, and technology decisions have shifted over the last several years. This article is the first in a series exploring those findings. Rather than focusing narrowly on a single category, this first piece serves as a broader overview of some of the larger trends emerging across the church production landscape. Future articles will dig deeper into specific topics raised by the data.
