Filmmakers from 40 U.S. states and 18 countries attended Day One, with church content creators from various locales registering and joining the hourly sessions.
Day One highlights include sessions presented by veteran church filmmakers from around the U.S. and at some of the top-volume filmmaking ministries at work today. Some of the more popular sessions included:
“Getting Started with Animation for Ministry”
“Unlocking the Power of Color Grading”
“Latest Technologies That Empower Ministry Production and Streaming”
“DSLR or Mirrorless for Creatives”
“Leading Film Ministries Through a Pandemic”
Capture 2020 Session "Getting Started with Animation for Ministry" by Jesse Henning of Funcom
Presenters were available during each session to take live questions. Some live chat questions and comments from attendees included:
“In Davinci is there a way to do these color effects on a moving person/object?” - Unlocking the Power of Color Grading
“Where would you say is a good place to go to get up to speed on after effects?” – Getting Started with Animation for Ministry
“I'm really looking for inspiration about how other churches are staying creative and forwarding their foundations right now.” – Why We Create: The Passion and Purpose of Film Ministry (keynote day one)
“How do you capture quality audio outside?” – Audio: The Other Half of the Equation
The day ended with the Church Filmcraft Festival Awards with some of the best examples of filmmaking ministry today from churches around the U.S. All entries are available in full length on the Capture website and app. The award session Monday featured various presenters talking about the winning entries with Church Production’s Brian Blackmore.
Blackmore is Capture Summit Executive Producer, editor-in-chief and publisher of Church Production LIVE Events, Church Production Magazine, and Church.Design, and had this to say about Day One: “Capture Summit is more important and more critical than ever this year. A number of churches are open for public worship, or partially open, across the country, but many people must remain distanced for health reasons. And that makes church filmmaking the No. 1 means of getting out the church’s message of God’s word and His salvation. Simply put: Capture has never been more important because the church filmmaker’s role has never been more critical.”
