Released at the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ross has unveiled its new Graphite production solution. Bringing together switching, 3D motion graphics, clip server, and audio engine, the Graphite provides an all-in-one solution for video professionals.
Housed in a compact, four-unit rack mount chassis, the Graphite is built upon the company's Carbonite engine. The self-contained system runs off a dedicated PCIe card, eliminating any third party computer sub-system crash, reboot, or update. The Graphite contains the complete Carbonite switching features including two MEs with five keyers each, four MiniME processors, floating DVEs, Ultrachrome keys, advanced pattern generators, and several channels of MediaStore.
The XPression graphics engine provides unlimited layering as well as true 3D objects and animations. The included clips server channels handle recording, managing, and playback of video content. As the switching and audio features are handled by the Carbonite card, this dedicates the integrated computer CPU for the sole use of motion graphics.
Built for in-the-box use and expandable with an optional breakout panel, the RAVE Audio Engine contains 24 inputs with full channel management features. The optional breakout panel adds eight analog inputs, five analog outputs, as well as one AES digital input and output. Users can access audio from embedded SDI video inputs or any of Graphite's internal sources.
Selling for under $25,000, the Ross Graphite provides a robust platform and cost effective solution for those seeking broadcast-level tools and results. The Graphite seamlessly integrates into other Ross equipment and can be controlled from a central source or expanded as needed.
