The old video switcher system in the youth center at Christ Wesleyan Church in Milton, Pennsylvania, was complex and discouraging to the young tech team members who were volunteering there.
The BZBGear Quadfusion 4K streaming switcher has received the Church Production Road Tested Certification.
“When I would go in there to check in, I could see a little bit of frustration with how to turn the switcher on and how to operate on the keyboard style,” says the church’s Communications and Broadcast Director, Brent Mestach. “So, I was actively looking for another solution, so our youth wouldn't think of it as so complicated.”
As part of a Church Production Road Test User Experience, Mestach agreed to test BZBGear’s Quadfusion4K Streaming Switcher to control the youth center’s two cameras via HDMI.
“What we're doing is sending a signal out that side HDMI port, which is a standard HD output, into our capture device and then to our livestream. Because we use this in our youth center, the ease of the product is super important. You have younger kids who were kind of just learning the video production realm.”
Mestach says it was exactly what they needed. It features HDMI in and out, and users can use up to four and have a computer coming in with the presentation. He used the USB output from the side into a USB-A into the computer, and that acts as a camera. Most importantly, he says what this has done is make it fun for youth to volunteer at the church.
“I had a 17-year-old named Matthew try this out, and what he loved about it was the T-bar because you can manually control it,” Mestach explains. “He thought that was really, really cool, as well as the audio faders that he could have complete manual control over that. And also, he loved the control of the different transitions. You can press one transition, and manually, you can control that on the T-bar. It could be a wipe, it could be a slide, a fade, whatever that was. He loved that he was in full control.”
Mestach says the faders were very responsive with no delay and no fade on what he was seeing and doing. The response time was automatic and he says the BZBGear Quadfusion4K Streaming Switcher would work well in any presentation environment.
