Director of Technical Operations Tyler Tritten describes Transformation Church as a high-energy Gospel church with insanely talented musicians where worship is a blast. And that’s a great environment to try out a new cinema camera. As part of the Church Production Road Test User Experience, Triton and his team experimented with Panasonic’s new PLV100 4K Cine-live Studio Camera.
“It’s Panasonic's next iteration from the VariCam LT, and they took that ENG body and they put a PL mount and a cinema imager on it,” Tritten explains. “As far as aesthetics go, it looked great - just right, next to our current stuff. When we set up the RCP, we got a chip chart set out. We dialed it in and it was actually a piece of cake.”
One of the highlights of this system for the team was the ease of set up. “It made integrating it into our system really easy,” Tritten says. “The difference is it's all-inclusive. When I'm trying to power the camera up, it's all through the fiber. I'm not setting up a power, an SDI, a trunk line, a network cable --- everything is packed into that fiber cable into the CCU.” This makes it easier for volunteers to operate because it’s either all on, or all off.
He says for the price point the PLV100 is highly competitive. He also talks about ease of use for volunteers and using the church’s collection of high-end cinema glass. Learn more about Transformation Church and hear the rest of Tritten’s interview, watch this video!
