Turning Point Church near Atlanta, Georgia isn’t ready to spend big money on a media server to run video content. Servers can be very expensive, so, the tech team at Turning Point tried Pixera’s Software for Media Processing as part of a Church Production Road Test User Experience. The software allowed them to utilize a PC that was already built out in their system to feed exciting new content to their LED wall.

“All we had to do was simply get the dongles that provided the license keys, plug those in, and then we were able to download and use the Pixera Software basically instantly,” says Turning Point’s Production Director Nathaniel Smith.
The church has a massive LED wall with a resolution of 4576 by 1056, which is an odd resolution. Smith says the Pixera software allowed them to make customize and preview video content easily. “As long as you know the resolution of your individual panels, you can make a custom panel in the visualizer that you have immediately in the software. In our current system, we have to set up content and then push it out to the LED wall and hope it looks right. With the visualizer inside of Pixera, it allows you to see what that content's going to look like in real-time.”
Pixera operates very similarly to video editing software...
Pixera is set up to receive any style video, whether that's from SDI, NDI, or internal content. “We wanted to have an NDI stream that was just for lyrics and we could do that. If we wanted to have an NDI stream that came to that computer and Pixera could pull in just for the message - we could do that and we could create those layers and we could customize those layers,” Smith explains.
Because Pixera operates very similarly to video editing software, it allows users to also apply effects. This allowed Smith and his team to send down an NDI stream with lyrics and key out the background and do other effects which made their process a lot more streamlined and simpler.
“We had a really great experience with it,” Smith concludes. “For someone who's used to a video editing software workflow, it was super simple to figure out. And with Pixera’s customer support, any questions that I did have got answered really quickly. That really just made it a great experience to implement into our worship environment and really to just take the quality that we are experiencing to the next level.”
