The PTZOptics Hive System allows production teams like Freedom House Church to control, track, and troubleshoot remote PTZ cameras from anywhere—using just a web browser.
“I was shocked at the camera control opportunities the Hive System offers. It can activate the all the features of our remote PTZ cameras, including iris and exposure, color control, movement and auto-tracking --- all remotely, which really opens up the door to add energy, a better look and a more rounded video experience across all our venues.”
That’s Brad Christian, production and service programming director at Freedom House Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s excited about the opportunity he recently had to try out the PTZOptics Hive camera control system. As part of a Church Production Road Test User Experience, Christian and his team were able to see how it works first hand.
“The beauty of the Hive System is being able to open up a web browser no matter where you are and be able to control the cameras on the other end. That's very important, especially when working with volunteers at remote sites,” Christian says. Something unique about Freedom House is that live teaching happens at all of their campuses, which places increased demands on the video production teams at each venue. Many production directors can relate to getting phone calls from volunteers needing support at remote locations about technology that's not working properly. Ideally, tech support happens in person, but with the Hive System, one person located anywhere in the world can login and trouble shoot, record, move the camera, adjust settings and track the communicator at any other campus remotely.
“It's so easy to operate the camera. Everything is laid out, super simple. There are no complicated menus to navigate. The video is very clear. The recording settings are easy to understand. The camera control settings are super simple, very intuitive, and really excellent way of being able to bring volunteers along with you on the journey,” he explains.
Christian says he was surprised at the ease of setup from the way the software installed on the computer, to the way the cameras interface with the Hive software. He says the PTZOptics Hive System auto detects most settings and everything is very intuitive, running over a simple ethernet cable that powers the cameras and sends the video down the line. He says he can see Hive being the solution to a host of video dilemmas.
“Hive could really help be a game-changer. Between being able to control and capture video in multiple places simultaneously, or if you just have limited options for troubleshooting when operating with volunteers, Hive helps you eliminate a lot of things that normally hold you back from success,” Christian concludes.
