“We didn't have a way to talk to each other prior to having the Punqtum Intercom System in place. My job was to run literally the entire length of the church multiple times during a service or otherwise running the front house or running back to the broadcast room, or running over here, running over there. I definitely got my steps in on any given Sunday,” says Brent Hale, the media pastor at New Hope Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma. The church has about 450 attendees and Hale was excited to be a part of the Church Production Road Test User Experience for the Punqtum Intercom System.
“Once we put this intercom system in place, my stress level dropped tremendously." - Brent Hale, Media Pastor, New Hope Baptist Church, Duncan, Oklahoma
Hale was all in when he learned that Riedel has a new lower-cost line of intercoms based on the Bolero line used in big sporting events. “For them to take what they have done with Boleros and put it in a line like Punqtum for churches that are my size, to be able to have the same quality was absolutely huge. It really ramped up our production quality,” Hale explains. “Our director was able to speak to our camera operators, clearly, and concisely. They could hear our director and the switcher could hear. There was no miscommunication. We were able to isolate the sound and be able to really listen into the directions that were being given.”
...it was a light bulb moment for everyone.
Also, the ability to intercom with the front-of-house operator to learn about changes being made was a big plus for them. Hale says the Punqtum Intercom System has changed their overall broadcast ministry and made his job a lot easier. “Once we put this intercom system in place, my stress level dropped tremendously. I was able to sit in one place. I have a base station in my office that I can hear all four channels. I can talk to my sound guys, I can talk to my director, I can talk to my camera operators, and I have another open channel to talk to all of them at once. It has made running the service way easier, to say the least,” Hale enthuses.
Volunteers were skeptical about what the system could do, but as soon as they tried it – Hale says it was a light bulb moment for everyone. To learn more about how the team at New Hope Baptist Church uses the Punqtum Intercom System, watch this video.
