Archdaily.com reports that Büro Ziyu Zhuang and RSAA have unveiled a design for the Zhangjiagang Church project. The project is a community center and church complex in Zhangjiagang, China.
Based around the idea of addressing current challenges of religion, the main church is separated from other functions, which are clustered in supporting buildings that surround it.
The buildings of the community center form an open ring around the church, which is oriented East-West to preserve tradition and historic layouts. This arrangement also serves to shelter the church from street noise, while allowing the compound to retain a strong connection to a neighboring lake.
