In spring 2019, Kansas City, Mo.-based architecture firm Mantel Teter announced the completion of Lord of Hosts Church in Omaha, Neb. Mantel Teter provide the following report.
Lord of Hosts Church first began their journey as a tenant in an existing strip center. We worked with the church to provide a master plan design for the entire strip center, to determine feasibility for a long term solution to the church’s space needs. With our guidance, the church approved a future plan for an 1,100 seat auditorium with balanced ministry environments. When the building came up for sale, the church jumped at the opportunity, and the initial phase of the master plan was initiated.
Critical design criteria included a complete renovation of the old strip center façade, to provide modern updates and highly visible and accessible entrances into the church. The connection of the various tenant spaces was achieved with a combination of ramps and stairs, to provide openness and accessibility between the ministry areas of the church. An existing ballroom was transformed into a large café, bookstore and community/lobby space, with direct access to a small multipurpose chapel. Many of the existing areas were revived with updated paint colors, flooring materials and finishes.
