Accsoon introduces the Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini, an accessory designed to transform the iPad mini 6 into a professional production monitor.
“The iPad mini 6 features an incredibly accurate 8.3” Retina screen, 2266x1488 resolution and wide P3 color gamut. At 326 pixels per inch it has crisper and clearer images than most dedicated professional monitors. Once equipped with the dedicated Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini, an iPad mini 6 becomes a serious production tool with multiple uses,” the announcement states.
When an Accsoon SeeMo HDMI or SeeMo Pro SDI is mounted to the back the setup becomes a lightweight on-camera monitor or confidence monitor. Alternatively, combined with Accsoon’s CineView line of wireless transmitters and it becomes a lightweight handheld director’s monitor.
The Accsoon iPad PowerCage mini is made of aviation-grade aluminum and adds protection to the iPad mini 6. It has multiple cold shoe and 1/4 20 anti-rotation attachment points on the sides of the cage for a solid connection to stands, and for accessories to be securely mounted. A custom TPU Gel case insert is included, providing an additional layer of soft cushioning around the iPad mini 6 in the event of a knock. There are also lugs to allow a neckstrap to be attached for director’s monitor use.
Weighing 293 grams for the iPad mini 6 and 162 grams for the Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini, this combination is lighter than many 7-inch monitors, while offering a larger screen, especially when mounted on top of smaller cameras used handheld, or when used as a director’s monitor. The iPad mini 6 weight makes it easier to keep a camera rig balanced, or use handheld for extended periods. It can also be used for vertical shooting setups, where a lightweight monitor is useful.
A dedicated folding sunhood is included with the cage. Designed to be a lightweight and sturdy accessory that blocks out stray light and improves visibility in various shooting conditions. A tab design allows it to be folded and unfolded. The sunhood can also be stowed easily with the PowerCage
The Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini also powers the iPad mini 6 with an included ACC04 battery adapter plate. By utilizing the USB-C PD provided by the ACC04 and NP-F type batteries, the iPad mini 6 is powered and other attached accessories can also be charged using the USB outputs of the ACC04. This can include charging a camera with the appropriate adapter.
The ACC04 can also be used separately to charge NP-F type batteries by connecting a USB-C PD charger, like the one used for the iPad mini 6, to the ACC04's USB-C input. It will charge a battery and show its charging status.
“The Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini opens up a world of possibilities for content creators and mobile journalists, commonly known as Mojos. When using the iPad mini 6 as a camera for news gathering and filming stories, the Powercage can be used to attach accessories like lights, small tripods, wireless and shotgun microphones, and other accessories. The ACC04 provides a useful way to power many of these accessories from one single easy-to-charge and easy-to-change battery,” the announcement concludes.
Accsoon iPad PowerCage Mini is offered at the price of $109 US. It will be available for purchase from authorized Accsoon dealers worldwide starting in October 2023.
