The past year has this editor thinking about how events in the world steer design, and how sometimes design steers what's possible in the world.
In "Design Intervention: Fireproofing Churches," design is definitely in response mode. In "Top Church Design Trends for 2019," the same shows itself to be true, but with design in the driver's seat where advances in digital technology are reshaping the built environment.
There is and always has been a push-pull effect. Like a current in a river, design is never static, always shifting. And this is apparent in church design leading into 2019.
