So many of the projects designers create involve taking wood away. Forests are cleared for development, for instance. And we all know what it’s like to drive a familiar route and realize that where a grove of trees once stood a tilt-up concrete structure has seemingly cropped up overnight.

Some very special design projects, however, are made of wood. They put wood into our environment and along the paths we walk, drive and worship.
