Hitachi Kokusai has unveiled new HDR technologies in its video broadcast products at the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The updated additions offer HDR (hight dynamic range) support across its full line of MOS and CMOS-based HDTV, 4K, and 8K cameras. The company says these updates allow for the the full use of increased contrast and richer colors without the higher infrastructure costs, processing overhead, and bandwidth requirements of Ultra HD.
One of Hitachi's recent product releases, the Z-HD5500 1080p studio and field production camera, supports various HDR variants used in broadcast and high definition applications today. It features the ability to capture images for HDR-capable Ultra HD devices but also take certain specifications and downconvert for legacy standard dynamic range TVs still prevalent in homes today.
The company says these new updates allow for integration into today's broadcast and image capture standards while harnessing the ability to work with those on the leading edge of technology and into the future.
