Members of Shure’s Board of Directors and Executive Staff traveled to Juárez, Mexico, to formally open the second Shure manufacturing facility there.
In the 1980s, founder S.N. Shure personally selected the city of Juárez as the location of Shure’s first manufacturing facility in Mexico. Production began on October 1, 1984, with only ten Associates in a rented building. Shure moved its operations to a new Shure-owned facility in 1990. In 2004, Shure expanded the plant space by 15,000 square feet. The expansion continued to 21,000 square feet in 2006.
The company’s announcement says continued growth has prompted the addition of a second facility. This new facility allows for greater product manufacturing capability.
More than 130 Associates from both plants gathered for the grand opening. The ceremony began with an introduction by Monse Luna, Juárez HR Manager. Shure President and CEO Chris Schyvinck and Juárez Plant Manager Juventino Herrera delivered a welcome speech and a brief overview of the project. Jamie Griffin, Senior VP and Chief Supply Chain Officer, emphasized the importance of this facility and its impact on the company and to the region.
“We have a long and successful history here and we want to continue to leverage this legacy as we support our customers,” says Griffin. “The team in Juárez is an incredibly important part of the Shure family and with the addition of this new facility, the Shure story will continue here for many years to come.”
Within the next decade, the ramp-up of the new facility is expected to add up to 500 new Associates. “By expanding our presence in Juárez, we can enhance our global supply chain, ensuring that our products reach the hands of our valued customers swiftly and seamlessly,” says Schyvinck. “This additional manufacturing capability will allow us to meet the growing demands of our customers, no matter where they are located.”
The Shure SM58 Vocal Microphone is manufactured in Juárez as well as Shure’s MicroFlex and Beta lines, the 55SH, and many wireless products like ULX-D, QLX-D, Axient Digital and more. Shure Incorporated is headquartered in Niles, Illinois, in the United States. The company has more than 40 manufacturing facilities and regional sales offices throughout the Americas, EMEA, and Asia.
