Today, WFX Atlanta was a whirl of activity. Conference sessions, a keynote by Ed Stetzer, director of Lifeway Research in Nashville, Tenn., expo floor interviews with key industry players (watch our website late next week to watch the live action), and the handing out of 2010 Solomon Award and New Product award winner plaques were just part of the day's activities. Between today and yesterday, here are some highlights of who I saw and what I learned:
* Bryan Miles, Miles Advisory Group. Miles, formerly of Cogun, has launched a new church staffing business for executive assistants and executive pastors. You can learn more at www.milesadvisorygroup.com.
* Live Design Group of Birmingham, Ala., www.livedesigngroup.net, is sharing its LIVE Design Process of integrated planning and design with church leaders at the show. Stop by their booth to see the Revit-assisted process in person.
* Yesterday, Cornerstone Knowledge Network's Alignment4 Conference was a highlight for pastors. Toward the end of the day, I heard Pastor Sean Seay of Athens Church in Watkinsville, Ga., remind church leaders that ministries gain momentum through vision, not through new buildings. Seay also had advice for pastors to help them survive the building process, once it's time to build. One key he suggested: Involve your wives in building planning sessions. And another -- don't get busy and lose sight of the importance of taking some personal time with God each day, NOT filled up with the task of sermon preparation.
* The Expo floor opened today at 11 a.m. to a non-stop flood of attendees looking for answers and products to help them in their ministries. When it came time to hand out Solomon Awards, Production Media and EH staff had to wait in line to hand out awards to busy exhibitors answering questions and engaged in conversation at their booths.
* WAVE of Charlotte, N.C., headed by director Armando Fullwood, unveiled its new holographic stage. Watch Worship Facilities Magazine and www.worshipfacilities.com for more on this amazing new technology.
* Tonight, WFX treated attendees to Reality 10 @ WFX, a concert where attendees witnessed Earl Bynum & the Unity Choir from The Mount in Chesapeake, Va., raise the house in praise.
Watch tomorrow night for another blog following the WFX 2010 church tours of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga., and Atlanta's ever-expanding Mt. Paran Church.
