Despite an abundance of technical training resources available to church techies, there are precious few if any spiritual or devotional resources for those of us that serve God through technology in the Church. However, one such resource can now be found at church- production.com. “Devotions For Church Tech Servants,” addresses the demands of working with technology in a church environment, and provides encouragement for growth in developing a servant's heart in a Biblical context.
The purpose of these devotions is three fold: to provide an accessible way for Church technology servants to engage with the Word, to help to apply the Word to the way we serve, and to provide a meaningful time in God's Word that tech leaders can share in a group environment with other tech servants. These devotions will come directly from a passage of Scripture, and will be applied to the context of technical ministry. For example, a recent devotion from Philippians chapter two described the humility of Christ as our example in life and ministry (Paul says we should make our attitude like that of Christ in verse 5). Each devotion features both application and discussion questions to help both the individual and the group process the content of the passage, and apply it well.
These devotions are now offered weekly to allow them to be a more regular and helpful element in technology ministry. Available at www.churchproduction.com/ devotions, “Devotions For Church Tech Servants,” are complete with application and discussion questions.
Anyone serving in technology ministry, whether they are paid or volunteer, systems operator or leader will benefit from these short and contextual applications of God's Word. They are helpful for personal study as well as for use in the group setting, perhaps with a staff team or a quick discussion with volunteers before rehearsal.
The ability to post comments at the bottom of each online post presents the opportunity for discussion and further benefit from the passage. Be sure to include the responses and comments of team members in your comments as well.
I hope you will take the time each week to read and benefit from these devotions as they are written especially for you, the Church technical servant.
