Audio-Technica has released a new addition to its Artist Series line at the 2016 Winter NAMM show. The ATM230 is a hypercardioid dynamic instrument microphone, built to excel in high SPL environments. The tight polar pattern offers a high level of off-axis rejection on the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired source. Suited for toms, snare, and other percussion instruments, the low-profile design allows it to be placed in a wide variety of setups.
As with many percussion applications, the all-metal housing gives the ATM230 a rugged build, protecting it from potential damage and drops. Included with the microphone is Audio-Technica's AT8665 drum mount for easy attachment.
Available in March 2016, the ATM230 will retail for $139. Also available will be the ATM230PK pack with three ATM230's retailing for $349.
