Grass Valley has released its new GV Korona production switcher at the 2016 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Designed as a compact solution, yet fully compatible with the company's existing line of line of products, the GV Korona offers the same professional features as Grass Valley's larger production switchers, the Kayenne and Karrera.
Built on the company's K-Frame S-series platform, the GV Korona supports multiple HD formats and can easily be upgraded to 3G/4K with a software license. The Korona's 2-stripe panel supports 20 assignable buttons on each ME row as well as a touchscreen in the transition area. Grass Valley says the Korona features the largest I/O matrix for a small switcher frame (80x48), with optional IP SMPTE ST 2022-6 I/O.
The switcher's surface features a built-in touchscreen interface that enables operators to work quickly and intuitively to produce content for a variety of applications. It also boasts a menu integrated into the panel and uses the same OLED and color technologies as the larger Grass Valley panels.
Whether for a small truck or studio, flypack, house of worship, or even as a secondary control surface in a larger truck, users can mix and match any Grass Valley switcher panel with any Grass Valley switcher frame for cost-effective repurposing. In addition, shows previously built on Kayenne or Karrera switchers are compatible and can be imported easily into a GV Korona switcher.
