Living As One is adding a new encoder designed for streaming two synchronized 1080p videos at full resolution (3840x1080) to their Multisite Platform offering. The company release says the unit is doubling the image resolution previously available for realtime video encoding.
The E2100 Encoder, manufactured by the company itself, joins its single-video brother (the E1100) in a line of encoders designed to significantly increase reliability in site-to-multisite video distribution through resilient encoding, a market distinct technique to ensure video quality is not diminished or lost during an internet outage. Synchronization of two independent video feeds is assured throughout transmission by combining the video inputs onto a single frame during the encoding process, and separating them into individual outputs on the decoder.
With the arrival of the E2100 also comes LAN distribution capability, which enables Multisite Decoders running on the same local network to receive content directly from the encoder instead of from the cloud. LAN-mode reduces overall external bandwidth requirements making it ideal for campuses with multiple playback environments on the same premise, and for remote campuses connected with dedicated circuits. This versatility positions the E2100 as a hybrid cloud option for those who need playback at both remote sites over the internet and across a local network.
The dual video E2100 series encoder retails at $2,999 and offers an optional redundant power supply. Units are available immediately from Living As One, and on-site demos of the full platform including encoders and decoders may be coordinated through a preferred integrator.
