Soundman David Udell, Pastor Moises Aleman and Pastor Jaime Aleman, The Bridge Community Church, Anaheim, California
Music is an important worship element at The Bridge Community Church, located in Anaheim, Calif. Pastor Moses Aleman holds degrees in both music and theology. His partner, Pastor Jamie Aleman, holds her degree in pastoral counseling and leads the worship band. Jamie and Moses have ministered together for more than a decade, beginning their partnership at the La Palma Christian Center in La Palma, Calif. Years later, in 2015, they realized their dream to plant a church in nearby Anaheim to bring the community together through Christ.
The Bridge is growing fast, with Jamie Aleman and the worship band leading the expanding congregation through five or more songs during a typical Sunday service. The on-stage band requires equipment for a minimum of keyboard, bass, guitar, percussion (cajón), plus a host of vocalists — not to mention microphones for Pastor Moses and his team. On special occasions, the stage band and the number of vocalists can swell to even greater size.
Managing the sound as the band, congregation, and church continue to grow has become quite the challenge. That task falls to David Udell, the man responsible for sound at The Bridge. Udell brought his concerns to Guitar Center Pro, meeting with Regional Manager Derek Snyder and Account Manager Carlo Rodas. After a lengthy examination of the church's needs, Rodas and Udell zeroed in on a choice: the Yamaha TF3 digital console with TouchFlow Operation.
Udell says the TF3's intuitive TouchFlow Operation touch panel and flying faders provide him and his team with a responsive and interactive control surface. In addition to the motorized faders, the Yamaha TF3 installed at The Bridge Community Church includes Yamaha exclusives such as 1-knob Comp, 1-knob EQ, GainFinder, and a library of QuickPro Presets to quickly optimize the sound and minimize setup hassles. In the end, according to Udell, “It was the TF3 mixer's ease of operation that really sealed the deal. It's a deep mixer, but everything is easy to access. I was already familiar with Yamaha and their reputation, plus they're headquartered here in our own backyard.”
Udell concludes, “The Yamaha TF3 sounds great, and everyone here at The Bridge likes it. The mixer features a built-in Real Time Analyzer that has allowed us to really tune the room to achieve exceptional sound, and practically eliminate feedback. Plus, training the staff to use the mixer has been simple, saving both time and energy.”
