Radial Engineering has released its new 4-Play direct box at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. Designed with multi-instrumentalists in mind, this direct box allows for multiple instruments to run through a single direct box but with dedicated, separate outputs.
When dealing with a multi-instrumentalist, often audio engineers must employ multiple direct boxes causing additional stage clutter, cabling mess, and often unwanted pops from various cables being switched out. The 4-Play box includes a single 1/4 inch input with four balanced XLR outputs and ground lift on the back. Mute and output selector footswitches allow control those parameters in real time along with high-visibility LED indicators to reflect the active selected channel and mute.
Two 'set & forget' switches allow the user to increase the range of the selector footswitch to 2, 3 or 4 outputs. There is also a dedicated tuner out that can be assigned to be always on, or function in tandem with the mute switch for quick on-the-fly adjustments.
Currently shipping, the Radial 4-Play retails for $279.99
