ETC Prodigy FlyPipe
For years, houses of worship with modest budgets have been searching for affordable and safe automated rigging systems for their sanctuaries. The challenge of rigging curtains, projection screens, monitors, and theatrical lights has always been difficult due to safety and aesthetic considerations. Plus, who wants to destroy the beauty of the sanctuary with ugly trusses, towers, and huge rigging holes in the ceiling?
Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) has introduced a new affordable automated rigging system called “Prodigy FlyPipe.” FlyPipe enables you to hang lighting fixtures, masking, projection screens, and any other overhead theatrical device from the floor, and then raise it remotely high above your stage.
Rigging ease
You will no longer need ladders to hang lights and cable them. FlyPipe’s integrated strut channel makes installation of fixtures, curtain carriers/track, and other hanging hardware a breeze. There is a double-helix cable management system that carries hoist power and 3-6 circuits for lighting.
... it attaches to the ceiling of your church with double cables that only require a one-inch hole in the plaster.
FlyPipe comes in attachable 10-foot sections (18-feet to a maximum of 38-feet), allowing pipe length flexibility. And it attaches to the ceiling of your church with double cables that only require a one-inch hole in the plaster. Rigging cable points are on 10-foot centers. This keeps unsightly rigging to a bare minimum.
Safety measures
FlyPipe has been designed to require minimal structural engineering requirements. Each 10-foot section has a 500-pound working load.
A fail-safe motor brake and SafeStop secondary load arrest double the amount of safety to ensure safe overhead operation.
The fail-safe motor brake and SafeStop secondary load arrest double the amount of safety to ensure safe overhead operation. SmartSlack technology detects multiple axis of hoist misalignment that could result from obstructions and safely brings FlyPipe to a stop. Local up/down controls give a high level of manual-control at an intuitive level.
The ETC Prodigy FlyPipe system has filled an important gap in affordable remote control rigging systems. My colleagues and I have already specified it on several projects. It could be the flexible and affordable answer to your rigging challenges, as well.
