I remember the first youth camp I went to with my church. I was in junior high and we went to Forest Home. It was a weekend retreat and I really didn't know what to expect. But when I left, I had a whole new set of friends my age that I continued a relationship with long after we got back home. The goal of the Tech Leaders Retreat at WFX (Atlanta, September 18-21, 2012) has always been to create a place where people could interact with others living in the same world they do - kind of like camp. Not just to get answers about the latest equipment – but to meet with people that are like-minded and speak the same language. And to create relationships that continue beyond the one-day retreat and create community they can rely on when they need help. The Church Technical Leaders organization has a similar goal, so it was natural to partner together with WFX and continue to make this happen.
Church Technical Leaders will present the leadership session of the Tech Leaders Retreat at WFX this year in Atlanta, on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. A panel of tech directors from some of the largest and most influential churches in America will lead the discussion. The focus will be about self. Knowing yourself better will help you lead others better. What are some of your strengths as a leader? What are some of your weaknesses? How do those play out with the people around you? We hope to tackle these and other questions to make you a better leader for your church. ??For a lot of tech directors – leading from the middle is common in our roles. We have people we report to, people who report to us and people we work with. All of this can be a delicate balancing act where one can easily affect the other. Learning about how you communicate, interact with others and how you like to be interacted with is a key to being the best leader you can be. In the Tech Leaders Retreat we will try to help you figure this out in the midst of your peers, while building some community around you to help continue this when you get home --- kind of like camp!
