The 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California marks a 30 year anniversary for Yamaha Pro Audio's digital mixing solutions. From the company's DMP7 released in 1987 to their current flagship model, the RIVAGE PM10, Yamaha has enjoyed a diverse history of digital consoles for the consumer, house of worship, broadcast, and touring markets.
Throughout the years, Yamaha has released several consoles that have become commonplace among engineers. The 1995 release of the 02R brought fully parametric eq, dynamics processing, and many more features in a compact package suited for personal studios and professional-quality projects.
Live sound reinforcement saw the release of the PM1D and PM5D consoles–in 2001 and 2005 respectively–which found a regular place among tours, theaters, festivals, and houses of worship alike–many of which are still in use today as large format options. The M7CL in 2005 became extremely popular within the house of worship market due to its ease of use and smooth transition for analog users.
Today, Yamaha has expanded on their console solutions with the CL, QL, and TF series, delivering comprehensive options for a variety of applications from large scale houses of worship and small to medium scale live sound, corporate, and installation environments.
